Sydney Weekender Roda

In July 2003 our group was visited by the Channel Seven television show Sydney Weekender who wanted to do a segment on Capoeira and our group. The presenter of the show paticipated in the full length of our class, from warmup, to drills, to participating in the roda - with the cameras filming the whole time Whether it was the constant onlooking of the cameras or the absolutely stunning weather for a winters day, the roda had amazing energy which resulted in some amazing games. These videos were taken on my snazzy new digital still camera and so are a bit shaky - never-the-less the content of the footage is great!

Roda In The Park

This roda occurred back in March 2003 when our state elections were being held and so we were kindly kicked out of our training hall by the "slipper patrol" who needed the hall as a voting location. Consequently we went to this amazing harbour-side park in Pyrmont and had a great roda on a lovely sunny saturday afternoon. But of course everyone had to warm up for the roda by practicing our floreios...
